Meesh’s Stockinette Quilt, Take 2

One of the first quilts Meesh sent for longarm quilting was her Stockinette quilt.

Meesh’s first stockinette, quilted with the ground cover panto

When one daughter claimed the original, Meesh started a new stockinette for her big kid. Big Kid wanted rainbow colors so we thought up a bazillion permutations of rainbow quilting ideas to go along with it. (Okay, I was the one who went nuts with ideas but Meesh didn’t delete me from her contacts, so it all worked out.)

We decided on free motion circle rainbows and I love the way they turned out!

Meesh is the queen of using low volume prints as neutrals. One of my favorites was Popsicle Party from Art Gallery Fabrics.

Towards the top of the quilt, I snuck Big Kid’s initial into the quilting. I chose one of Meesh’s ice dyed fabrics for the location and it’s in a spot where she can find it easily while she’s snuggled underneath.

The backing was Ruby Star Society Speckled by Rashida Coleman-Hale with a stripe of geese and rainbow. (I love little bits like this on quilt backs!) The RSS wideback fabric is soooo soft and lovely and I have since ordered enough for 3 different quilts!
