Meesh’s Star Pop Quilt

My first blog post! (Or at least the first for this new version.) I thought it could be useful to have a place for additional photos and views of the quilts I get to work on without overcrowding the gallery. Plus, maybe now I can write IG posts with less than 2,000 characters! Haha!

I thought I’d start with this Star Pop quilt made by my sweet (and totally rad!) friend, Meesh. She asked for graffiti quilting, which is one of my favorites to stitch out!

whole quilt made with white stars at the intersections of colorful rectangles

I started in the bottom left corner and let it blossom from there. As I work, I scroll through books, graffiti quilting hashtags, and all things Karlee Porter to get ideas for shapes and combinations to try next. If I do a thousand graffiti quilts, I don’t think I’ll ever get through all the possibilities! Here are a few of my favorites from the front:

The quilting really shines on the back though!…

Meesh made this quilt to celebrate the idea of supporting women in small business - all of the dyed fabrics came from other dyers (you should check out Meesh’s IG feed to see her ice dyes too!!) - and it was an honor to be the quilter for this project!!

Maker: Michonnne (Silver Lined Stitches)

Pattern: Star Pop by Quilty Love

Quilted by me on my HandiQuilter Fusion longarm using Aurifil thread (50 wt cotton in Light Sand)
