How Lucky Am I?

First of all, my apologies for not posting in approximately 6,042 years.  But I started a new job about two weeks ago!  Woohoo!!  Life has been ever-so-slightly hectic as I adjust to a.) having to go to work instead of sewing and watching Animal Cops all the livelong day and b.) commuting an hour each way...again.  So far (after nine whole days of work) I love my job and I love my company and one day I will actually get the hang of things!  I'm just so happy to be gainfully employed - especially in today's job market...I am SO lucky!

Second, I received the most magical gifts from my awesome partner in the For the Love of Solids Swap!  Check out these beauties from Megan:
It's like a party dress for my sewing machine!  I have only managed to sew about 4 stitches in the last two weeks - and during all of that down time, my Brother has been all gussied up!
And I got a matching pouch!  I have unnatural love for zipper pouches...I don't think I will EVER have too many!  This one is going to be for my ginormous hexies (more on that project when I actually start it!)!  Also, as this is a more portable version of the machine cover, I am tempted to take it with me wherever I go so I can pet it and gaze at it lovingly!  (Seriously...it's an unhealthy obsession...)
Megan stuffed the pouch to the brim with scraps!  Glorious, delicious scraps!!  I am SO, super lucky!!  Don't be jealous! I had so much fun with the swapping and whatnot, I wanted to sign up for another one but I held myself back (see Reason for Being Lucky #1 above!)...

And today I found out that I am one of the newest quilters for the do. Good Stitches Charity Bee!!  There are a thirteen groups making quilts for different charities.  Our group will be sending quilts to a great organization called Alternatives for Girls.  I'm really excited (and SO lucky) to do. Good!!

Super-Extra-Happy Mail

The other day I looked in my mailbox and saw that my package from Leila arrived! I did a little happy dance in the driveway! I already knew what it was and I couldn’t wait to get my hot little hands on it!  Every thing about this package was delicious…the cute stitched wrapping, the handmade tag, her business card (which is so awesome I want to make new ones for myself!)…it even came in a pink mailer!  And I think I showed great restraint by taking one whole picture before tearing into it!
As part of the “pay it forward” game, Leila made me the cutest little coin purse EVER!  In fact, I saw it on Flickr even before I read her blog post and I think my heart actually skipped a beat! (I may have even squealed out loud and startled the dogs!)
I cannot get enough of these kettles!
I finally got me some Ruby Star Rising!
inside (I'm so in LOVE with that shade of blue!)
Even though it’s a coin purse, I’m trying to decide how I want to use it.  You’re about to get a peek inside my crazy head…but money is dirty and I want this to stay beautiful...it's too good for gross and grimy coins!…so I’m thinking I will either use it for business cards or gift cards (that’s how I buy my starbucks…and I buy a lot of starbucks!...this will be the perfect size to carry with me)…or I could use it to carry my favorite lipstick and gloss (they currently reside in a TSA-approved Ziploc baggie in my purse!  So not glamorous!).  Whatever I decide to fill it with, I just know that I want this to be on my person at all times!

So now I get to pay it forward and make something for three of you!  Fun!  So if you want to play along, leave me a comment – I’ll send the first three people a handmade goody!  The only rule is that you will have to pay it forward by making something for three of your peeps within a year.  No prob!

Ready? Set? Comment!

Ummm....

I just ran a bunch of errands...in holiday weekend traffic...I had many things to do, but only 1 thing I needed: velcro for my lunch bag.  I came home with fabric, interfacing, an invisible zipper, thread, a tile sample, and a chocolate smoothie from Starbucks.  But NO velcro!  Seriously?!?

Look who I ran into...

Oh, hello there Mr. Inchworm!

He was a speedy little sucker too!

Good Times

Yesterday Audrie and I went fabric shopping together!  It turns out we live really close to each other...so close that I could ride my bike to her house....  Wait!  I'm laughing too hard to type...I can't catch my breath!  Aaaahhh Hahahaha!  Me...on a bike...aaaahhh hahaha!  Yeah, I don't ride bikes.  But it's a really short car ride!

I picked up a little bundle of random goodies (quilter's linen, a little more prince charming, some letters to play with) and some stuff to make an insulated lunch bag for myself!

We also ate lunch at a place where ordering 1 slice of pizza secretly means you want 2 slices of pizza. (what?  I guess math is hard for everyone!)  And we got a ginormous bowl of eggplant fries.  As someone who is generally against eggplant (weird texture, no flavor...I mean, come on eggplant...get your shit together!), I wasn't so sure about them...but the quilt shop ladies highly recommended them. And they were fantastic!

I had so much fun hanging out with Audrie in real life!  (We might be twin souls.)  I'm looking forward to crafty high jinks to come!  Now I have to go get started on that lunch bag!
